The Board of Trustees of the Palos Heights Public Library recognizes that the Library’s most valuable asset is its Staff. The expectation is that Library Staff will be among the most highly trained and professionally proficient individuals in their field. They are expected to perform at an extremely high level at all times and in all situations.

In order to attract and retain such highly skilled professionals, it is the philosophy of the Palos Heights Public Library that its total compensation packages should lead the marketplace, particularly when compared to public libraries in similarly small and affluent cities. This means that it aims to pay employees at the top end of the marketplace as determined by reputable survey data. It also means that available benefits should be among the most generous in the industry. Finally, it seeks to provide a positive and enriching workplace, in which talent is nurtured and exemplary performance is rewarded.
